Two arrested with brown sugar worth Rs 2 lakh

Indore: Two persons allegedly involved in brown sugar trafficking were arrested by Heera Nargar police as part of an ongoing campaign against illegal narcotics in Indore. Police recovered 13.30 gram brown sugar worth around Rs 2 lakh from their possession.ACP Heera Nagar Rubina Mizwani said a team was patrolling and checking suspicious persons on MR-10 Road on Friday night when they spotted two men standing with a motorcycle. The duo tried to flee on seeing the police vehicle but were chased and caught after a brief pursuit. During questioning, they identified themselves as 24-year-old Rohan Kadam, a resident of Bhagya Laxmi Colony and 23-year-old Gopal alias Deepak Ahirwar, a resident of Heera Nagar Main Road.
A search led to recovery of a packet containing brown sugar. The contraband was seized and the accused were arrested. Police said the accused would buy the contraband at lower rates and sell it at higher prices to fund their addiction and earn quick money. Both have prior criminal records. A case was registered against them under NDPS Act.
