Barwani: A govt teacher posted in Sendhwa sub-division area of Barwani district died by suicide on premises of a govt school early on Monday.
Sendhwa SDOP Kamal Singh Chauhan told TOI that 35-year-old teacher Praveen Nide, posted in Government Primary School Chikhli hanged himself in the building of Government Higher Secondary Balwadi. "The teacher was addicted to alcohol and there were complaints against him for not coming to school," the SDOP said.
On Oct 3, a panchnama was prepared by Sankul Pracharya following a complaint by villagers that Nide had not come to school. Block education officer Lokendra Sohni issued a notice to him on this.
Warla Tehsildar Hitendra Bhavsar told TOI that on Oct 5, he inquired at Primary School Chikhli about the absence of teachers and the mid-day meal and submitted the report to SDM Sendhwa and DPC Barwani.
The SDOP said that the police have not found any suicide note, and the reason for the suicide was yet to be known.
SDM Sendhwa Ashish refused to comment on the matter, citing the ongoing police inquiry.
