65-year-old dies of burns while sitting near bonfire
Indore: A 65-year-old man, who had started a bonfire early morning on Sunday, was burnt to death after his clothes caught fire accidentally in Jhabua. The incident took place around 6 am when the victim Var Singh Damor, resident of Bodwa village in Thandla of Jhabua. His nephew Dinesh Damor, who works in a government high school, told police that the Var Singh was sitting outside the house on Sunday and since it was very cold, he had started a bonfire when suddenly his clothes caught fire. He screamed and tried to douse the flames but his hair and torso was burnt. When neighbours and family members rushed to his rescue after listening to the screams. They immediately called an ambulance and Var Singh was taken to civil hospital in Thandla. Later, he was taken to Jeevan Jyoti Hospital in Meghnagar but he could not be saved. Police said that the death was recorded and the body was handed over to the family members after postmortem examination. They were in the process of recording statement of family members and neighbours to rule out any foul play in the case. tnn
