Three men in possession of firearms arrested in Indore
Indore: Three men in possession of illegal firearms and ammunition were arrested on Wednesday in Indore. The accused were planning a crime in the city to "settle a personal dispute" before they were intercepted.Police recovered five illegal firearms and three live cartridges from the possession of the accused. They also uploaded videos on social media showcasing these weapons with the intent to intimidate and create unrest.Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused have a history of criminal offences registered against them. Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya said they received information about three men roaming near Lakshmibai Road on MR 4 with illegal firearms. Acting on the tip-off, the police detained the accused and recovered the weapons during a routine search.Appu alias Abhay Thakur, a resident of Pardesipura who runs a grocery shop; Nitesh Choudhary, a resident of Shraddhashri Colony who works in a transport office; and Lucky Thakur, a resident of Kalindi Gold, Indore, involved in the tent house and catering business, were arrested under relevant sections of the Arms Act.
Police said that Abhay has several cases registered against him at Pardesipura police station and Lucky has cases registered against him at Lasudia police station. During investigation it was found that the accused acquired the weapons and were planning to attack someone to "settle an old personal dispute".The crime branch registered a case under sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act. The accused are now in police custody and further investigations are underway.
