KHARGONE: Three policemen, including two sub-inspectors, were killed and two others sustained injuries when a car they were travelling in collided head-on with a truck at Badud village, 60km from Khargone district headquarters, early on Saturday morning.

"The policemen were returning to Sanawad after discharging their duties at the annual fair, Shivdola, in Khargone, when their hatchback car rammed into a truck parked on the roadside at around 5.30am," Sanawad police station in-charge Nirmal Kumar Shrivas said.

Sub-inspectors Vimal Tiwari and Ramesh Chandra Bhaskare and constable Manoj Kumawat died on the spot, he added.

Constable Raghuveer Rawat and nagar sainik Komal Dangode were injured and referred to Indore after first aid at the Government Hospital in Sanawad.

The postmortem examination of the deceased is being performed.
