Teenager consumes poison, dies

Indore: A 19-year-old youth died after he allegedly consumed ‘rat killer’ in Bhawarkuan police station area in Indore. The incident took place on Saturday evening, when Naveen Khandelwal, a resident of Dewas, consumed poison at his house in Palda. One of Naveen 's friends called his brother-in-law Ajay Pancholi, who worked as security guard, at 6 pm from Naveen’s mobile informing him about the incident. Pancholi rushed to MY hospital to find him undergoing treatment. On being asked, Naveen told Ajay that he had consumed rat killer in small quantities. “Naveen forced to discharge after being stable and he returned to Ajay’s house at around 9 pm,” said Ajay Pancholi. “On Sunday morning, Naveen became restless. Ajay called 108-ambulance to take him to hospital. He was rushed back to MY hospital", Pancholi said. "The doctor started treatment, but his condition worsened. Naveen was shifted to ICU around 2.30 pm and around an hour later he was declared dead,” Ajay Pancholi said. Ajay informed relatives and the police were informed by MY hospital authorities. “MY hospital authorities informed that a 19-year-old man died after consuming unknown poison. After the postmortem examination, the body was handed over to family members,” Bhawarkuwan police station in-charge, Rajkumar Yadav said. Naveen worked as a labourer and usually lived with his elder sister in Indore.

History-sheeter consumes poison as police search his house

A history-sheeter in Idukki consumed poison after police conducted raids in his house. The man, who had multiple cases against him, had reached the police station with diluted poison. Police caught hold of him and rushed him to the hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is stable. A case for a suicide attempt has been registered against him, but he will be treated as a victim and may receive counseling if needed. In related news, a gang has been arrested for killing a history-sheeter in Tambaram, and a man involved in multiple theft cases has been arrested in Kochi.

Naveen pushed for women' reservation bill, says BJD

The BJD party leaders in Bhubaneswar have expressed their support for the Centre's decision to introduce a bill reserving one-third of seats for women in Parliament and state legislatures. They have stated that this legislation has been a longstanding demand of their party, and that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik personally reached out to Prime Minister Modi and other Chief Ministers for their support in 2018. The BJD party has a strong track record in promoting women's representation, with five women among its 12 Lok Sabha members, and having introduced reservations for women in local body elections in 1991.
