Stones pelted at revenue team removing encroachment

Indore: A revenue department team which had gone to Sirsodiya village in Dhar to remove encroachment from govt land on Saturday morning was pelted with stones by villagers, leaving Station House Officer and a woman constable injured.SP Mayank Awasthi said that Dhamnod TI Praveen Thakre twisted his ankle and sustained injuries during the attack and was later referred to Indore for treatment. The windscreen of Tehsildar's vehicle was also shattered in the stone pelting.
Following the incident, additional police force from nearby police stations was rushed to the village to bring the situation under control. Manawar SDM also reached the spot after tensions escalated.According to officials, at 10 am, a joint team of about 25 members comprising Tehsildar Kunal Awasia, Naib Tehsildar Krishna Patel, Dhamnod SDOP Monika Singh, TI Praveen Thakre and Patwari Rahul Thakur reached Sirsodiya village to act against a house allegedly built on govt land. As the team initiated the process to remove the structure, villagers began pelting stones at the police and official vehicles, forcing the team to halt the operation.Naib Tehsildar Krishna Patel said the action was carried out in compliance with legal orders. He said the land belonging to Anil, Anita, Dharmendra and Pallavi was demarcated earlier, during which it was found that some people encroached upon the property.Following the demarcation, the landowners approached the revenue court under Section 250, seeking removal of the encroachment. The court ruled in favour of Anil, Anita and Pallavi. The occupants then challenged the order in a civil court, but their objection was rejected.
