INDORE: In a brutal incident, a 35-year-old man was stabbed 18 times before his throat was slit over a petty dispute in broad daylight in Pardeshipura area of Indore on Friday afternoon. The victim succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
DCP Abhinay Vishwakarma said that the CCTV footage of the crime showed that Vinod Rathore, 35, was walking on the street when Pramod Sai Yadav, 29, approached him from behind and pushed him to the ground. Pramod then launched a knife attack on Vinod. As Vinod writhed in pain, Pramod continued stabbing him and ultimately slit his throat.
Pramod, fled to his home in Kulkarni Ka Bhatta after the murder, where locals apprehended him and handed him over to the police. During interrogation, Pramod alias Ajay alias Sai, 29, confessed that both he and the victim were intoxicated at the time of the crime. A minor argument escalated near Purani Kalali, and Vinod allegedly attacked Pramod with a knife, causing minor injuries to his finger. Enraged, Pramod snatched the knife and repeatedly stabbed the victim.
The investigation revealed that the accused and the victim had no prior enmity. The police recovered the folding knife used in the crime and the clothes worn by the accused during the attack. A case was registered against Pramod under Section 103 of the BNS and he will be presented before the court on Saturday.
Vinod Rathore worked as a waiter at Gurukripa Hotel near the railway station and lived in Arjun Singh Gaur Nagar, 500 meters away from the crime spot. Vinod was unmarried and lived with his family after his father's death. He was the only son of his mother, Prabha, who works at a ready-made clothing store.
