Indore: A specially-abled kid was killed after being run over by a pickup vehicle while he was playing outside his house in Neemuch district on Tuesday night. The family members, however, alleged it an act of revenge over an old dispute.
Police said that the accident took place at Modi village in Sarwania Maharaj area. The kid's father Maan Singh said that the driver of the pickup, Ashok Jaiswal, deliberately ran over his son, alleging it was not an accident but an act of revenge. The family claims that two years ago, a dispute over a passageway took place between them and Jaiswal, which even escalated to a police complaint. They believe the long-standing enmity led Jaiswal to intentionally kill the child, who was unable to move independently due to his disability.
Following the accident, the pickup driver fled the scene. The police have registered a case and launched a search for Jaiswal. Officials said that all aspects of the case were being thoroughly investigated to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the boy's death.
The grieving family has demanded an impartial probe and strict punishment for the accused. On Wednesday afternoon, police conducted the postmortem of the child and handed over the body to the family for final rites.
