INDORE: Six people were arrested on Friday for stabbing two men and beating up a medical student who was having dinner with a fellow female student at a famous eating outlet near Sarwate bus stand.
Both the boy and girl hailed from different communities and the ruckus started when some people started questioning the girl why she was moving out with a male not from the community.
After a video of the incident went viral MP chief minister
Shivraj Singh Chouhan directed the Indore police commissioner to take strict action against the accused. Normally, the medical students have dinner at the restaurant, but on Thursday their friends were tied up and dropped out and the two decided to go ahead.

Rakesh Modi, told TOI that since the girl was covering her head, she caught the attention of the accused who started questioning her. Sensing trouble, the couple ignored them and moved out on their scooter towards Regal square where they were chased and accosted by the accused who reprimanded the girl alleging that she was defaming her religion and sought details of her parents.
Modi said that as the girl tried to reason with them, the accused surrounded the two-wheeler on which they were sitting and started slapping the boy. Hearing the commotion, onlookers intervened.
Himanshu Patel, who was standing with his friends Rohit Badke and
Chirag Jain near an ice cream parlor in
Dhenu Market, was one of the first to intervene ‘seeing a youth and a girl on a yellow scooter being harassed and thrashed by over 40-50 people’. As they intervened, the boy and girl escaped towards the railway station platform number 5 where they were again chased and surrounded by the accused, Modi said. As rescuers followed, one of the accused identified as Shoeb, son of Mohommad Latif, resident of Ushaganj square attacked Himanshu with a knife leaving him with injuries in his abdomen and leg. His friend Yash Joshi was also attacked by a mob, Modi said.
By then, a police party from Tukoganj and Chhoti Gwaltoli reached the spot and nabbed one of the accused. “A case of violence, wrongful restraint, use of obscene words was registered against unidentified persons,” said Modi.
