Indore: Parting ways with traditional invitation plots, youngsters are swearing-in by eco-friendly options and one such concept trending these days are seed embedded invitations.
These unique invitations are going high in demand among youngsters for its environment friendly characteristics and have no shelf life.
Designed on recycled cellulose paper, these customized invitation cards come with multiple seeds of flowers and vegetables that can be planted in soil.
The seeds can germinate within 7 to 20 days.

Mohan, a designer said, “Invitation cards hold a very special place for any occasion so I decided to go a step ahead and give a memorable gift to my guests through seed embedded invitations.”
Mohan had ordered over 150 cards to distribute to her guests for the opening of her garment shop. Mostly seeds of marigold and basils are high in demand in scented papers.
According to manufacturers of seed embedded invitations, in the past six months over 10,000 cards have been delivered to customers in Indore for several occasions.
Mostly in demand for weddings, these cards are made of waste papers, recycled cotton and use organic colours extracted from turmeric and beetroot.
Sneha Gupta, a wedding planner from South Karnataka recently organised a wedding in Indore for which 600 special customized basil seeds embedded cards were ordered.
Gupta said, “We get a lot of demand nowadays for unique concept and this is how we found out seed invitation cards. Recently I ordered a basil embedded card for a bride moving to the United States.”
According to market experts, usually people spend about Rs 70 to Rs 80 on traditional invitation cards and these seed embedded cards are available starting from the range of Rs 25 per card.
A Banglore-based seed embedded invitation cards unit founder Roshan Ray said, “It’s an upcoming trend with a very niche market for the urban young and eco-conscious customers. It’s on the rise with more customers slowly becoming aware about the existence of seed paper.”
