Security beefed up, routes fixed; Indore gets ready for Rang Panchami
Indore: Sector-wise police control rooms would be set up on Rangpanchmi Gair route to cut down on response time in case of any untoward incident. Aerial real-time surveys will be conducted, and an emergency exit route has been planned in case there is a stampede during the procession on Sunday.A force of over 2500 personnel will be deployed across all these control rooms. The district administration has also imposed a ban on DJs and warned of strict action against any disorder during the festivities.
Arrangements for Gair processions on Sunday were reviewed in a joint meeting of administrative officials, police and Gair organisers, at Collectorate on Friday.The traditional Gair processions would move along designated routes which would see participation of thousands of enthusiasts. The processions will include Radha-Krishna Faag Yatra and groups organised by institutions such as Tori Corner, Maral Club and Sangam Corner.Collector Shivam Verma directed organisers to strictly adhere to scheduled timing and sequence of processions to prevent congestion along the routes. He asked organisers to ensure that the celebration remains orderly and that no objectionable material was used or thrown at participants. Organisers were also told to comply with provisions of Noise Pollution Control Act and not to play obscene or vulgar songs.Only vehicles with prior permission will be allowed to participate in the procession. The administration directed organisers to ensure that drivers hold valid licences and are not under influence of alcohol. Vehicle fitness will also be checked.DCP Anand Kaladgi said police will maintain strict surveillance throughout the event. Welcome stages along the route will be permitted only on one side of the road to ensure smooth movement. He warned that anyone creating a disturbance during the procession will face action, and those found carrying weapons will be dealt with strictly.Security arrangements will include monitoring through drones, CCTV cameras and video recording along the procession route. The entire Gair route will be divided into sectors for better crowd management and security deployment.Police appealed to citizens to immediately inform authorities if they spot individuals carrying weapons or attempting to create a disturbance.
