RO plants, ice factories and unbranded cold drink units under scanner

Indore: Indore district administration on Monday announced a focused campaign to monitor the quality of seasonal food items and drinking water to prevent adulteration and ensure hygienic manufacturing conditions amid rise in temperature.The administration has placed local RO plants, ice factories and unbranded cold drink units under surveillance. Authorities will examine the water sources and production processes used for packaged drinking water, ice and ice candies to ensure they meet health standards.Collector Shivam Verma specifically highlighted student-heavy areas like Bhanwarkuan and Geeta Bhawan, where thousands of outstation students reside. Regular inspections will be conducted in these hostel zones to guarantee the quality of meals and food products served to students.He emphasized a zero-tolerance policy toward unhygienic conditions. Establishments found manufacturing food in unhygienic environment will face immediate sealing and FIR."Since Dec 1 last year, food safety teams have inspected 545 establishments and collected 1,131 samples, including 222 dairy products. Over 15 major operations have resulted in seizure of thousands of kilograms of suspected adulterated items and temporary closure of several facilities," he said.
