Reserved plots for women in Sector 7

Indore: The new industrial area Sector 7 in Pithampur developed by Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) will have industrial plots reserved for women industrialists, a move seen encouraging participation of women in industries.Pithampur Sector 7 will be the first of its kind industrial belt in the state to have reserved space for women entrepreneurs.The industrial area coming up on more than 2000 hectare in Pithampur will have industrial, residential and commercial plots. It will have a logistic park, a cluster for footwear industry and plots for micro, small & medium enterprises (MSME) and women entrepreneurs. MPIDC executive director Pratul Sinha said, “Sector 7 industrial belt will have plots for women entrepreneurs. This is first time when any industrial belt has kept a provision to keep plots for women entrepreneurs. This move will give a platform to businesswomen and encourage their participation.” Around 50 acre is likely to be reserved for businesswomen in Sector 7. Sinha said, “We are in talks with some women entrepreneurs and plan to allocate some plots in the industrial belt in May.”MPIDC is planning to allot industrial plots to around 6 industrialists, including women industrialists, in May. The upcoming industrial belt is attracting encouraging enquiries from investors amid its proximity to existing industrial belt Pithampur and Indore. Sinha said, “We will develop basic amenities for industrialists in the belt and simultaneous infrastructure development work will continue in the belt. Many industries have demanded possession and are ready to do construction simultaneously with the infrastructure work.” MPIDC has received consents for around 500 hectare land for Sector 7. So far, from farmers and government around 200 hectare has been transferred to the corporation.
