"One of the officers at the police station identified Sharma and asked him whether he had been involved in any crime at Sarafa police station. Sharma denied it, but left the police station hurriedly," said Mahendra Singh Bhadoriya, Sadar Bazaar police station in-charge. After this the cops smelled a rat and started questioning Sharma's associates.
Sultana and Rakhi were also. From Rakhi police learnt about Chhotu's two friends -- Pawan and Aakash. Police interrogated both for several hours and they revealed that they had been given the contract of killing Chhotu."Sharma had offered the youths Rs 5 lakh to eliminate Chhotu," said Bhadoriya.
Aakash and Pawan revealed that they called Chhotu from an STD booth near Pandarinath temple and asked him to come to CP Shekhar Nagar. "They sat together and had a drinking session. When Chhotu had had a large number of drinks, the accused took him to the nearby nullah and slit his throat. They separated the torso from the head and buried both parts in the mud under a boulder," said Bhadoriya. Following this lead, the police recovered the body of the victim from the nullah and it handed over to the family after post mortem.
"A case under Section 302 (murder) of IPC was registered against six accused including Aakash, Chintu Mangrole, Pawan Rajput, Rahul Panwar, Ravi Tayade and Dinesh Sharma and they were arrested," said Bhadoriya.
