The much talked about new on-screen twosome Kriti Sanon and Sushant Singh Rajput were in the city on Thursday to promote their upcoming film Raabta. The two went to a city based college for promotions and had the student’s spirit soar high while shaking a leg on the popular movie number ‘mein tera boyfriend tu meri girlfriend’. Indore Times gets candid with the actors.
The trailer of the movie has already gotten 33 million views. How hopeful are you with the movie doing well at the box office?
Sushant: I don’t know. I have seen movies that had gotten over 50 million views but they didn’t do well. Also with 4G coming in there are so many people who are at it. So I can’t really say about the movie doing great business. I am hopeful but what I know is that the narrative of the movie would intrigue many and the film as a whole has used different tools and emotions to make the movie super engaging.
Kriti: I am a little more positive person than Sushant is (J). The first step for marketing or promotions of any movie is to reach out to as many people as you can and I am glad that 33 million people have seen the trailer. Whether they like it or not is a secondary thing but at least they are aware about “Raabta” coming out. Also like Suhshant said the movie has used different tools to make it engaging. The film brings back the slight angle of reincarnation and an edgier angle of showing conflict between the villain and hero.
Intense-love which has been shown in two different time zones would be something fresh for the audiences.
Talk about your naturally oozing on-screen chemistry? Also you both recently shot for a magazine and the cover picture is a testimony of the chemistry and comfort zone that you both share.
Sushant:
I think it was on
the first day when we met for the auditions to do an improv that we both struck a chord. We worked as a team and both of us were completing each other’s dialogues which meant we were listening to each other and that is the most important element to build trust. We were comfortable in each other’s company. It was then that we’d known, we will share a good rapport.
Kriti:
But we never really had to put in an effort to work on our chemistry and what people are seeing in the magazine is the result of the camaraderie that has been built while working together.
How do react to the rumours about the two of you seeing each other making rounds?
Kriti:
Initially, it came to us as a surprise, somewhere in the middle it became tad annoying and now we’ve learnt to laugh off at it. It’s a laughter ride when we discuss gossips like I have dumped Sushant and he is upset with me etc.
Sushant:
It just doesn’t affect me at all now. But what had upset me at one point of time was that more than the rumours of the two of us seeing each other, some people were making talks that we’ve deliberately manufactured the love angle to rope-in some publicity. I mean we are not this dumb to have a story going on for the box-office numbers because the audiences are very smart these days. Also, it will be a blotch on my skills as an actor to play such belittling stunts.
We get to see in the trailer that the movie has a lot of intense love-scenes. What were your apprehensions related to this when you read the script?
Kriti:
I was okay with it because the narrative of the film demanded it but I won’t do an intense love scene simply for a promotional songs.
Sushant: I act for it compensates for the things that I can’t do in normal life. Since, I hide behind all these characters, so I don’t have any apprehensions at all. If a scene really requires for me to even shed-off all my clothes, I will go full-monty.
