BHOPAL/UJJAIN: The special establishment of Lokayukta on Friday raided the house of an inspector posted in the regional transport office in Ujjain and recovered documents relating to moveable and immovable property worth Rs 6.5 crore.
Sewaram Khandeker, posted as RTO inspector resides in the Alakhnanda locality of Ujjain. The lokayukta police seized documents about as many as 14 houses from his home.
“The documents about the houses recovered either belong to Khandekar, his wife, children and brother who is a Congress corporator in Ujjain”, said OP Sagoria, investigating officer.
“The house that was raided is worth Rs one crore and is fitted with central air conditioner system. Khandeker is fond of exotic birds and dogs. Two German shepherds guard his house”, the investigating officer said.
According to Lokayukta sources the monthly salary of Khandekar is only Rs 23,000 and in the last 20 years of service, he would have earned not more than Rs 30 lakh through his salary. Gold-silver jewelry in huge quantity has also been recovered during the raid.
Documents related to14 acre land near Ujjain and houses in Indore have also been recovered from the house of this RTO officer. In the last few years, Khandekar was posted at Siqandara barrier in Shivpuri, Hanumana in Rewa and also in Indore.
Till late evening the lokayukta seluths were busy ascertaining the total worth of the property seized. They have also seized LIC policies worth lakhs from his house. The details of the bank accounts and their lockers are still awaited.
