GWALIOR: Congress legislator Pradyum Singh Tomar and about 125 congress workers were arrested after state
BJP president
Prabhat Jha suffered injuries during clash between BJP and Congress workers.
Difference of views over protocol regarding a civic ceremony is stated to be the reason which led to the incident. The arrests were made after Jha filed a complaint at Bahodapur police station.
“BJP Chief Prabhat Jha sustained minor injuries in the scuffle. Jha later lodged a police complaint”, State BJP media cell in-charge Dr Hritesh Vajpayee told TOI in Bhopal.
Jha alleged the Congressmen began creating trouble without any provocation.
The trouble began at the function when a group of Congressmen, supported by corporators, took objection alleging that they were being ignored and side-lined in the function. Both the party workers first got involved in verbal duel which soon turned violent. They began hurling chairs at each other, resulting in minor injuries to around 30 persons .
“The function was in ward number five, where Sushma Chauhan was sidelined and instead BJP leader Jagat singh Kaurav was given prominence”, Congress councillor Devendra Singh Rathore told TOI.
Rathore said that the BJP men began hurling chairs when they raised objection
“The legislator and his supporters were booked under section 151 of the Crpc”, a police spokesman said after the arrest.
