Pithampur industrial belt to get two new water storage tanks ahead of summer

Indore: Anticipating higher water demand during the summer months, the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) is augmenting water infrastructure in Pithampur industrial belt, with two new storage tanks set to be completed by March.Officials said the two storage tanks, each with a capacity of 3.3 KL, are being constructed near Special Economic Zone (SEZ) 2 and at Sector 3 in Pithampur. The move is aimed at strengthening buffer capacity in areas where water demand increased due to expansion of industrial activity.
A dedicated feeder work at the Narmada Valley Development Authority pumping station is also expected to be completed by Feb to ensure a more reliable and uninterrupted water supply to industrial units.MPIDC executive director Himanshu Prajapati said the corporation is taking preventive steps ahead of peak summer. "Pithampur and adjoining industrial areas saw steady expansion in recent years. With industrial activity rising, water demand also increased. We are enhancing storage capacity and strengthening feeder systems to ensure that industries do not face any disruption during the summer months," he said.More than 1000 industries operate from Pithampur and nearby industrial areas. Pithampur is the state's largest industrial area, contributing close to 90 percent of the total industrial area revenues in Madhya Pradesh. The cluster houses automobile, engineering, pharmaceutical, chemical and manufacturing units and remains a key contributor to the state's industrial output and exports.Officials said the additional tanks near SEZ 2 and Sector 3 are expected to improve supply stability and reduce pressure during peak demand. Further assessments are underway in other industrial belts to align infrastructure planning with projected industrial growth.
