Phase 1 infra work at Indore-Pithampur economic corridor to begin at cost of Rs 250 crore

Indore: The first phase of infrastructure development for the proposed 19.60 km Indore-Pithampur economic corridor is set to begin at an estimated cost of over Rs 250 crore, marking a key step in strengthening one of central India's largest manufacturing belts.The corridor, with a projected overall investment of more than Rs 2,500 crore, aims to create core industrial infrastructure to support expansion in Indore-Pithampur region. Phase 1 will include development of road networks, including connectivity to the Super Corridor, along with drainage and electricity infrastructure.
Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) secured consent from landowners for around 300 hectare under the land pooling model. Nearly 60% of the developed land will be returned to farmers, who can either establish industrial units on their plots or sell them to investors.MPIDC executive director Himanshu Prajapati said, "The corridor will significantly ease freight movement, reduce travel time between Indore and Pithampur and create plug-and-play infrastructure for industries such as auto, engineering, pharmaceuticals and logistics. The objective is to enhance the competitiveness of the region and attract fresh investments."An industrial zone will be developed within a 3 km to 5 km stretch on both sides of the corridor. Besides industrial expansion, the project also includes residential and commercial development, with housing schemes proposed to accommodate employees and entrepreneurs working in the upcoming industrial units.
