Indore: Lokayukta sleuths caught a patwari red-handed for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 in Ujjain for settling a land mutation case on Saturday.
The accused Pradeep Tiwari had demanded Rs 43,000 for the work and Rs 10,000 as the first instalment. Mukesh Malviya, a resident of Badrakha Bairasiya village in Ujjain district, had lodged a complaint with Lokayukta police in this regard.
When Tiwari pressurised him to pay the money, Malviya thought to teach him a lesson.
Deputy superintendent of police (Lokayukta), Janved Singh said, “After a complaint was lodged, we laid a trap and subsequently, nabbed the accused while accepting the bribe.”
Lokayukta police have booked Tiwari under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigations into the case are underway.
