INDORE: The district administration on Thursday told the Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh high court that allegations made in the petition regarding food items being sold at prices higher than the MRP were true and that a special team has been constituted to monitor the rate at which food will be sold at the IPL on Thursday.
The city hosted its third IPL match on Thursday between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab, in which the nine member team constituted by the district administration kept a check on food items being sold at higher prices.

With the constitution of the committee, the division bench of Justice PK Jaiswal and Justice Virendra Singh disposed the petition field by advocate Manish Yadav on behalf of Akhil Bhartiya Grahak Panchayat through Mehtab Singh Kaurav.
The court on Wednesday had issued directions to the district administration to submit their reply to the allegations made in the petition within a day.
“Following the court’s order, the committee of nine members was formed on Wednesday itself and the order copy was annexed along with the affidavit filed in the court. The administration submitted that the rights of consumers will be protected and the illegal sale of food items will be stopped by all means,” Manish Yadav, counsel to the petitioners said.
The petition had also alleged that food joints like Domino’s Pizza and Subway were selling their food items to the spectators without providing a bill to the customers, making it difficult for customers to approach the consumer forum.
