Indore: Indore's first collector after independence and oldest 'Old Dalian' Thakur Narayan Singhji Kila Amargarh was felicitated by current district collector P Narhari in a ceremony on Tuesday here at Daly College.
Singhji, a retired IAS officer, had completed 100 years on March 24.
Senior vice-principal of the school Rajan Potty introduced Thakur Narayan Singhji to the gathering.
"It is a proud moment to witness the first collector of Indore and present collector of Indore together on the stage," he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Narhari termed Thakur Narayan Singhji as the living heritage of Indore and urged students to learn how to live a healthy life from him.
"I am honoured to honour the first collector of independent Indore," he said.
Narhari also informed that the experiences of Thakur Narayan Singhji are being shaped in the form of a book. Addressing the gathering, Thakur Narayan Singhji thanked everybody for felicitating him. He said, "I am overwhelmed by this gesture by Dalians."
Breaking the age barrier, Thakur Naryan Singhji also sang the school prayer along with the students on the occasion. Accompanying the faculty, staff and students of the institute vice president of Daly College Board of Governors', Devraj Badgara, members of the board, Maharaja Priyavrat Singh Khichi and Dheeraj Lulla, Old Dalians Association (ODA) vice president, Kripal Singh and ODA secretary, Jai Singh Jhabua were also present. Family members of Thakur Narayan Singhji were also part of the event.
