MP’s rising women cricketers earn BCCI U-19 elite camp call-ups
Litha.AchariIndore: In a significant boost to women's cricket in the state, five young players from Madhya Pradesh have been selected for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Under-19 Girls Elite Camps, reflecting the steady rise of talent from the state at national level.Seventeen-year old Anaadi Tagde of Indore and Ishana Swami of Ujjain will attend the elite camp at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru from April 27 to May 23. Anaadi, a promising pace bowler, has already made a mark in domestic cricket. At just 16, she delivered a remarkable spell of six wickets for eight runs, including a hat-trick, in a Women's Under-19 T20 Trophy match, bundling out the opposition for 31. Her pace and ability to strike early have placed her firmly on the radar of national selectors.Ishana Swami, a right-handed batter, has impressed with consistent performances in U-19 domestic tournaments and has shown adaptability across the batting order, delivering solid contributions in top, middle, and lower-order roles.Three other players, Aayushi Shukla, Mahi Thakur, and Tamanna Chaudhary have been selected for the second phase of the Under-19 Girls Elite Camp in Surat, scheduled from May 11 to June 9.Eighteen-year old Aayushi Shukla from Indore has already earned recognition on the international stage. She emerged as one of India's leading wicket-takers in the Under-19 World Cup held in Kuala Lumpur, claiming 14 wickets and securing a place in the ‘Team of the Tournament'. She also topped the wicket charts in the Under-19 Asia Cup, underlining her consistency and match-winning ability.Mahi Thakur, an all-rounder from the Narmadapuram division, has contributed with both bat and medium pace, while Tamanna Chaudhary from Indore, an opening batter from Indore, has delivered steady performances in Under-23 and Under-19 competitions."This is a great opportunity for these young players who have performed consistently in domestic cricket. Selectors closely track the domestic tournaments, allowing emerging talent to develop further," said MPCA joint secretary Arundhati Kirkire.Their selection signals a promising future for women's cricket in the state.
