MPPSC begins Food Safety Officer interviews after 17-year gap

Indore: After a gap of 17 years, Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission has begun interview process for Food Safety Officer recruitment from Wednesday, marking a key step towards filling long-pending vacancies.The recruitment drive, counted among the Commission's significant examinations, aims to fill 123 posts. The number of vacancies witnessed multiple revisions during the process. Initially, around 120 posts were announced nearly one-and-a-half years ago, but the notification was later cancelled. When the recruitment was reissued, the posts were reduced to 67, leading to protests from aspirants. Just before the results were declared, 56 additional posts were added, taking the final count to 123.A total of 480 candidates have been shortlisted for the interview round. The written examination was conducted on Dec 14, 2025, with nearly 44,000 candidates registered, though only about 59 percent appeared. The results, declared on Jan 21,2026 shortlisted 382 candidates in the main list and 98 in the provisional list.To ensure timely completion, the Commission has formed four interview boards. Around 85 to 90 candidates will be interviewed daily, allowing the process to conclude within eight days. Officials indicated that the final selection list is expected by April 30, or in the first week of May.The interview carries 50 marks out of the total 500, making it a decisive stage. With interviews being held after nearly two decades, competition is expected to remain high.
