MP: Court grants bail to Amit Soni in Arms Act and one more case

INDORE: A magisterial court on Saturday granted bail to Amit Soni in two cases registered at Kanadia and Tukoganj police stations.
Although Soni has been granted bail in these two cases, he would remain in jail in other cases registered against him at several police stations in the city.
The court of special judge Pritam Singh Pran granted bail to Soni in an Arms Act case registered at Kanadia police station on a bond of Rs 50,000 and in another case registered at Tukoganj police station for disobeying the order of a public servant under Section 188 of the IPC.
Tukoganj police booked Soni for not providing details of employees working at the hotel Best Western. Kanadia police had arrested Amit Soni under Arms Act after recovering 38 bullets from him.
Accused’s counsel Ashwin Kumar Adhiyaru had moved the bail application in the court a few days back.
Adhiyaru, during the hearing, told the court that police had arrested the Amit Soni erroneously under Section 25 of the Arms Act after recovering the bullets from his house.
Soni has a licensed gun. The bullets which were recovered by the police did not belong to his licensed gun. So, it wasn’t a case of illegal possession of a weapon as stated in Section 25, but of Section 30 of Arms Act which is a violation of Arms Act punishable with a maximum imprisonment of six months, Adhiyaru argued.
The government advocate countered the argument and said that the accused had been illegally possessing arms.
The court rejected arguments of the government advocate and granted bail to Amit Soni in the case.
