MP commercial tax dept raids Shujalpur traders

INDORE: Anti-evasion wing of commercial tax department, Madhya Pradesh, condcuted a raid at Shujalpur-based cement and iron traders here on Thursday. Around Rs 59.09 lakh was recovered as due tax and penalty from the business premises of the firms.

Shujalpur based hardware dealer Mahavir Hardware store, Prince Hardware and Gautam Hardware and Bharat Hardware have been raided by the department. On Thursday, Rs 20.90 lakh and Rs 28.46 lakh and Rs 5.6 lakh have been recovered by the department from the business premises of all the three stores respectively.

"We are suspecting that for past one year the dealers have been hiding their transaction details from the department. The stock recovered at the business premises of these firms is less than their record books," said commercial tax commissioner Raghvendra Singh.
