Minor among four of a family suffer burns in late night fire at home in Tilak Nagar
Indore: Four of a family, including a minor, received burn injuries after a fire broke out in their house early on Wednesday morning in Sainath Colony of Tilak Nagar. Five of nine people in the house managed to escape to safety.Fire official ASI Sushil Dubey said that a massive fire broke out in a house in Tilak Nagar area around 2:30 am on Tuesday. The fire brigade team reached the spot approximately 15 minutes after receiving the information and managed to control the flames.Dubey said that the emergency call was received at Gandhi Hall late at night, after which he and his team reached the location, where the fire broke out on the second floor of Nemichand Jain's house. Firefighters battled the flames and managed to extinguish the fire using 5,000 litres of water. The blaze caused significant damage to the house, reducing a large portion of belongings to ashes. The fire reportedly started in the front section of the house, where nine family members, including Nemichand Jain and his children, resided. While four people from the lower floor of the house managed to escape in time, Nemichand, his wife Shashi, their daughter-in-law Dr Pooja Tiwari, granddaughter Drishti and son Gaurav Jain were trapped inside. Firefighters Mahendra Rajput, Rajendra Solanki, Omkar Singh and Manoj Gausar entered the house and successfully rescued all the trapped individuals.Reports suggest that at the time of the incident, Gaurav, Pooja and their daughter Drishti were asleep in a room inside and got trapped. Young Drishti suffered burns on both hands during the accident. The fire department suspects that the fire was caused by a short circuit, which led to sparks falling onto a sofa, quickly igniting a large blaze. At the time of the fire, the entire family was asleep, leaving them vulnerable to the sudden spread of flames. Among those severely injured are Nemichand, Drishti, Gaurav and Pooja, who remain in critical condition and are undergoing treatment in the burn unit of MY Hospital.During the chaotic situation, Tilak Nagar police also arrived at the scene but were initially unaware that people were trapped inside. It was only after the firefighters reached the location that a rescue operation was launched.
