INDORE: A two km stretch of forest land has been converted into a trenching ground in Manpur area by the local civic body, making it useless for flora and fauna. The matter came to fore when Manmohan Gunawad, a resident of Manpur, moved the National Green Tribunal (NGT) over the destruction of forest land. The Manpur municipality and forest department woke up from their slumber.

The latter issued notices to civic body to clear the area.
On Monday, the Manpur municipality pressed its team to remove the garbage from the locality. The forest ground has been a dumping area for the municipal garbage disposal team, pouring not only the household garbage, but also the waste coming out from the hospitals and clinics on the forest land. “The forest area of about two square kilometers has been badly affected due to the act of the municipality,” Gunawad said.
