Dewas SP Puneet Gehlot said Amaltas Hospital informed Civil Lines police on the night of Feb 10 that Ravi Chauhan, a resident of Singwada Power House village, was brought in with critical injuries. He was accompanied by his brother Lakhan Chauhan and brother-in-law Rahul Rajoriya, who claimed Ravi was hurt in a road accident.Ravi died during treatment, after which police recorded the death, and sent the body for postmortem at MG Hospital. The autopsy report revealed that death was caused by severe head injuries inflicted by a heavy object, raising suspicion of homicide. During questioning of family members, investigators learned that Ravi and Lakhan argued earlier that night over payment of loan instalment. Police said the dispute escalated inside the house, where Lakhan allegedly struck Ravi two to three times on the head with a heavy iron tool, killing him.
After the assault, Lakhan informed Rajoriya and the duo allegedly transported the body to the hospital while falsely presenting the case as a road accident in an attempt to cover up the crime. Investigators said Rajoriya was fully aware of the murder but still provided misleading information to medical staff.Based on the findings, police registered a fresh case. Both Lakhan and Rajoriya were arrested and produced before a court, police said.
