'I am in love with her': Man arrested for stealing woman's innerwear; gets her name tattooed on chest
INDORE: In an incident as bizarre as it was amusing, a 25-year-old man was arrested in Ujjain on Thursday after stealing a woman's innerwear from outside her house. The act was captured on CCTV, which later led to his identification by the police. The incident was reported from Indore's Chimanganj Mandi police station area.
Police said the accused, identified as Amit Malviya, lives in the same neighbourhood as the woman. In her complaint, the woman said she noticed her innerwear missing from the clothesline outside her house. Suspecting foul play, the family checked the footage of the CCTV installed near their residence, police said.
The footage purportedly showed the accused approaching the clothesline where several garments were hung up to dry. The footage, according to the complaint, showed the accused picking only the woman's innerwear and slipping them into the pocket of his denim trousers before quietly leaving the spot. The other clothes hanging on the line were left untouched, the family said.
As the footage confirmed the innerwear theft, the woman and her family approached Chimanganj Mandi police station and submitted the CCTV clip as evidence. Acting on the complaint, police launched a probe and traced the accused to the same colony where the complainant resides.
Chimanganj Mandi station in-charge Gajendra Pachauri said the accused claimed to be in a one-sided love with the woman during questioning, adding that he also got her name tattooed on his chest.
A case was registered under relevant BNS sections and further investigation is underway, the police said.
