Man held for staging his abduction
Indore: A 24-year-old man was arrested for allegedly orchestrating his abduction in Bhanwarkuan area of Indore on Wednesday.
The incident came to light on Tuesday when Shri Ram Gupta approached Bhanwarkuan police station, reporting that his son, Satish Gupta, 24, was kidnapped. The father, a resident of Sidhi, informed the police that his son — currently living in Sarvanand Nagar, Indore, and working at Choithram Flower Market — was held captive and the kidnappers allegedly demanded a ransom of Rs 1 lakh for his release.
ACP Juni Indore, Devendra Singh Dhurve and Bhanwarkuna police station in-charge Rajkumar Yadav formed a team to investigate the matter. Upon verifying the details and conducting inquiries in the surrounding areas, the police began suspecting inconsistencies in the reported crime. Tracking Satish's mobile location and conducting a thorough investigation, officers found further discrepancies in the case. Their suspicions were confirmed when they located Satish Gupta with his friends, Arush Arora from Prince Nagar and Tejveer Singh Sadd from Meharban Nagar.
Satish was taken into custody and upon detailed questioning, he confessed to fabricating the kidnapping story. Satish revealed that he took loans to fulfil his extravagant lifestyle and was unable to repay them, so he staged his abduction with the help of his friends to extort money from his family. The police arrested the accused and initiated legal proceedings based on the investigation.
