INDORE: A 21-year-old woman was thrashed by a group of men from her family for allegedly refusing to marry a man from her community after reportedly eloping with a Dalit man in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh.
Dhar police said that the incident took place on June 25. The woman was reportedly brought back by her family members after she had run away with a Dalit youth.
They were forcing her to marry another man but she fled from the house.
The matter came to light after the videos of the incident went viral on social media prompting police to take actions against the accused. The accused can be seen pushing her to the ground and thrashing her with sticks.
"We have registered a case against the accused and further investigations have been initiated," said Dhar SP Aditya Pratap Singh.
