UJJAIN: The Lokayukta cops caught the CMO of Mahidpur Municipal Corporation red-handed while allegedly accepting Rs 10,000 bribe from a health inspector for clearing the latter’s pending salary.
Sources said that the accused has been identified as Ajay Trivedi, who was allegedly receiving the bribe from one Jay Prakash Sharma when the Lokayukta cops pounced upon him.
Sharma has already served as the acting CMO at Mahidpur and now is the health inspector at Mahidpur.
Sources said that Sharma had approached Trivedi asking to clear his salary, which had been pending before the CMO for the past two months. For releasing the salary, Trivedi allegedly asked a fee for it.
Lokayukta DSP YP Singh said that Sharma lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta in Ujjain accusing the CMO demanding bribe in lieu of clearing his pending salary.
Accordingly, the Lokayukta police laid a trap and nabbed the CMO at his house when he was accepting the bribe from Sharma.
