Light to moderate rain likely in Indore

Indore: Despite weakening the low-pressure system that had created chances of heavy showers in Indore on Saturday, the recent spell of rains has brought the region from once as deficit to now excess rainfall category.As per the records, Indore district has so far received total 1269.8 mm (50 inches) rainfall that is around 17 inches in excess from its average 845.7 mm (33.2 inches) rains. Till second week of September, around 20 districts including Alirajpur and Barwani of the state had a total around 12% deficit of rainfall, but the rainfall recorded in next one week has met the shortage and now, only six districts are yet to receive its average rainfall of the year.Indore and Burhanpur have received highest rains in the state i.e. more than 50% excess of its average rainfall, all thanks to the recent spell of heavy to very heavy rains in the division that has also improved the rainfall table of other districts. Except Barwani that has received lowest rainfall in Indore Division i.e. 706.5 mm (27.8 inches), remaining seven districts have now come in ‘Green’ category from ‘Orange’ status for the same receiving access of rainfall and come out from the rain deficit category.Mandsaur district, which recorded around 2 inches of rainfall in around an hour on Friday evening, had however recorded around 40 inches of rainfall in last season while the district has reached close to 27 inches of rains in this season. There are some areas in the neighboring districts including Neemuch that are still in deficit of its average rainfall and people are expecting a spell of a couple of days of moderate to heavy rainfall to remove the shortage.The Met department has foecast light to moderate rains in Indore and nearby districts on Sunday. Moderate rainfall in Old Mysuru region

Moderate rainfall brought relief to the Old Mysuru region as the water level in the KRS dam fell below 97ft. The sudden downpour disrupted the Ganesha festival shopping in Mysuru city. Other districts in the region also experienced moderate rainfall. The KSNDMC forecast predicts light to moderate rain in Kodagu, and scattered light to moderate rain in Hassan, Shivamogga, and Chikkamagaluru districts till Monday morning.

Chennai likely to get moderate rainfall: IMD

Residents in Chennai were surprised by rain on Thursday morning, caused by a trough of low pressure in the atmosphere. Weather forecasters predict that more rainfall is likely in the coming days. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for light to moderate rain in the city and suburbs for the next two days. Some areas of south Chennai experienced heavy rainfall, while others had light showers or cloudy weather. The rainfall was attributed to a cyclonic circulation and a trough from south coastal Andhra Pradesh to south Tamil Nadu. IMD has also issued a heavy rainfall warning for several districts in Tamil Nadu. Chennai has received 71% above normal rainfall since June 1.

877mm:State crosses 100% of average annual rainfall

The city of Ahmedabad experienced cloudy skies and drizzles on Tuesday, with temperatures expected to rise again from Wednesday as the cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan shifts to Kutch. The city received an average of 1mm of rain during the day, and thirteen gates of the Vasna barrage were opened to accommodate inflows from nearby water sources. The state of Gujarat has already surpassed its average seasonal rainfall mark, with Kutch receiving 145% of its seasonal rainfall. The India meteorological department (IMD) forecasts light rain in the city for Wednesday, while heavy rainfall is expected in other parts of Gujarat.
