Farmer Shobharam

Dhangar

saw the leopard in the well when he went to his fields in the morning in Dhundalai village, following which he raised an alarm, Rampura tehsildar HS Ningawal told TOI.

The villagers informed the revenue officials following which the forest experts were summoned, he said.

The male leopard had apparently fallen into the well in the night and was clinging to a water pump tube and crevices on the wall of the well, when the farmers found it. The animal was tired and famished, Ningawal said adding the forest officials lowered a cot and the wild cat jumped on it.

A net was lowered to cover the cot with the leopard on it. Once the cot was pulled out, the leopard was ushered into a cage with some food for the wild cat, the tehsildar said.
