INDORE: After a gap of three years, Rashtriya Lata Mangeshkar Samman Alankaran Award was bestowed to noted playback singer Shailendra Singh, composer Anand-Milind and singer Kumar Shanu respectively for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021 on Wednesday during a big event at Brilliant Convention Centre

Rashtriya Lata Mangeshkar Samman Alankaran Samaroh is an annual event that is organised in honour of ‘Bharat Ki Swar Kokila’— Lata Mangeshkar — who was born in Indore on September 28, 1929 and breathed her last in Mumbai on February 6, 2022. For the past three years the award ceremony was not being organised due to Covid-19 pandemic .

Bollywood singer Alka Yagnik made the event more melodious by presenting Mangeshkar’s songs as a tribute to her.

The state government has announced to name an under-construction 1500 seater auditorium costing Rs 24 crore in Rajendra Nagar after Lata Mangeshkar, while IMC has announced to install a statue of the legendary singer in Gandhi Hall. Also, minister Usha Thakur announced Shashkiya Sangeet Mahavidyalaya would be named after Lata Mangeshkar.
