INDORE: "Today's educational system fills the mind of students with only information and no wisdom. Innovation is the need of the hour and students should think and form an opinion of their own, rather than accepting the opinions formed by others."
These were the words of minister of state for human resource development, Shashi Tharoor. He was addressing the 131st anniversary of The Daly College here on Saturday.

Mentioning about Nelson Mandela, the former official at the United Nations said that he had opportunity to meet Mandela thrice.
"Besides, Mahatma Gandhi, he was also inspired by Jawaharlal Nehru. He had spent 27 years of his in jail, perhaps the best 27 years of his life. He saw positive in all his endeavours and taught us not to be afraid of failures," said Tharoor.
The MP from Thiruvananthapuram also inaugurated Sanghi Hobby Centre at the school campus on the occasion.

Principal Dr Sumer Singh presented a brief report on achievements of the school in the year 2013. He said that 19 students from Daly College went to various countries under class exchange programme, while the school played host to 12 foreign students. A total of 174 students were selected for the national games.
Cultural programmes, including Indian orchestra, group patriotic cum folk song, folk dance, English skit and others were also performed.
Tharoor later gave away prizes to students for their performances in academics and co-curricular and cultural activities.
