Khandwa blast: Wife of shop owner succumbs to burns

Indore: The 40-year-old wife of the man booked for storing LPG cylinders in a shop illegally, which had led to a massive fire in Khandwa district, succumbed during treatment at MY hospital in Indore on Saturday evening.Explosions had rocked Ghaspura locality on Wednesday night as LPG cylinders at an illegal storehouse blew up in an inferno, critically injuring seven people, including three family members of the accused.Around 300 houses were evacuated as firefighters tore down houses with JCB machines in a desperate bid to control the fire.The shop owner Rajesh Panwar, 46, his wife Madhuri, sons Roshan, 15, and Deepak, 22, and three others--- Bhanu Bhanwre, 16, Harshal Bhagat, 16, and Sarish Vishwakarma, 32 were injured in the mishap.Khandwa district health authorities on Wednesday referred Madhuri and Deepak to Indore and Roshan was referred the next day.Roshan, 15, had suffered around 11% burns that were mostly around his facial area that affected his respiratory tract leading to edema.Burn unit incharge, MYH, Dr Sachin Verma said, “All three patients were critical due to burns on facial area. Madhuri and Deepak were on a ventilator and intubated. They are under observation. Madhuri and Deepak respectively have 90% and 30% burn injuries.”
