Barwani: Masked men broke into a trader's house on Palsud Road and looted gold and silver jewellery along with approximately Rs 2 lakh in cash after threatening and injuring the trader's daughter-in-law, in Rajpur town of Barwani district.Rajpur police station in-charge Vikram Singh Bamaniya told TOI that the incident occurred on Tuesday when the trader, Mohan Agrawal, had gone to market while his grandchildren were at school and his daughter-in-law, Ruchi, was alone at home."Taking advantage of the situation, the accused entered the premises from rear side. They then forced Ruchi at knifepoint to open cupboard and took away around Rs 2 lakh in cash. The miscreants also snatched jewellery Ruchi was wearing and slashed her wrist with a blade," he said. When the children returned home, they found their mother in a state of shock. They immediately informed their grandfather, following which the police were alerted, he added. Additional Superintendent of Police, Dheeraj Babbar, along with other police personnel reached the spot. The injured woman was rushed to govt hospital in Rajpur for treatment.Bamaniya said that a case was registered late Tuesday against unidentified accused. Police teams have been formed to trace the miscreants, and CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being examined.
