INDORE: The special CBI magistrate Dr Shubhra Singh on Thursday extended the police custody of the accused in the murder of RTI activist Shehla Masood, Irfan Ali, till April 3.
The judge also asked CBI to keep the accused in a separate cell and give him time to think whether he is ready to record his confession and statements under section 164 of criminal procedure code (CrPC).
Another accused Saqib Ali ‘Danger’ who allegedly arranged the contract killers, was also produced along with Irfan before the CBI judge to seek his consent to get his voice samples recorded.
Saqib agreed to get it done, but the judge asked the CBI to get the test done in the presence of three witnesses. Both Saqib and Irfan have been kept in district jail, Indore.
Meanwhile, the CBI has demanded for repeat of lie detector test of BJP (MLA) Dhruv Narayan Singh.
“They have asked for the test, but we are yet to decide whether to give consent to it or not,” said Advocate Pradeep Gupta, on behalf of Singh.
Singh has been on the radar of the CBI after his name figured in the diary of the prime accused in the Shehla Murder case, Zaheda Parvez. Singh had undergone a polygraph test in New Delhi recently.
Irfan is accused of sub-contracting the killing of Shehla Masood to Shanu Alaunga and Tabish. He was in the UP Task Force Police custody and was brought to Indore on March 9. He was earlier remanded to police custody till March 16.
The RTI activist was murdered in front of her house in Koh-e-Fiza locality on August 2011.
