INDORE: MIG police on Wednesday arrested eight persons of an interstate gang who had been stealing copper wires of telecom companies using hydraulic cranes while pretending to be civic body workers.

MIG police station in-charge Ajay Verma said that sub inspector Munendra Singh Kushwaha was patrolling in the night on Tuesday when he came across a group of people on AB Road who were wearing radium-coated jackets and using a crane to pull out a copper cables from a chamber in front of Shreemaya hotel. Some others were cutting them into 12 ft-long pieces. “Vinod Pal, 44, Dharmaditt Pandey, 29, Mohammad Kalim 30, Shakib, 35, Dinesh Dharve, 42, Sachin Dharve, Taufiq alias Chand Ansari, 21, Naimuddin alias Naeem, 37 were arrested and booked under relevant sections of IPC. We recovered 53 12 ft-long copper wire of BSNL from their possession,” said Verma.
