Cloud cover persisted through the day, blocking direct sunshine and keeping the air chilly. By evening, the wind turned sharper, adding to the biting feel in the air. Residents felt a marked chill in the early morning hours. Met officials said Indore recorded a maximum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature stood at 14 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal. Winds continued from the north and north east, with speed reaching up to 22 kilometre per hour.
Weather scientists said the cold spell is linked to snowfall in the Himalayan region of north India. Chilled air descending from the mountains is now influencing central India, leading to a fresh drop in temperatures in Indore and nearby districts. Similar weather conditions, including cold winds and morning fog, are expected to persist over the next one to two days.
Dense fog was not limited to the city. Rural belts, including, Depalpur, Gautampura, Betma and Sanwer also recorded heavy fog, affecting movement in interior areas. Across Madhya Pradesh, Rajgarh emerged as the coldest location, logging a minimum temperature of 8.8 degrees Celsius.
