Indore records around 96% pass rate, slips in district rankings
Indore: Indore district recorded an overall pass percentage of around 96 in Class 5 and over 97 in Class 8. Despite the strong results, district lagged in state rankings, reflecting a shifting academic trend across Madhya Pradesh.State education department on Wednesday announced the result online from Bhopal. The Class 5 and 8 board pattern results this year indicate a clear change, with smaller districts and rural regions outperforming major urban centres. While Indore division emerged as a strong performer, the district itself could not secure a top position. At the district level, Indore stood at ninth place in Class 8 and dropped further to 26th position in Class 5.According to official data, 51,815 students appeared in Class 5 from Indore, out of which 49,724 passed, with nearly 17,343 students securing A and A+ grades. In Class 8, 46,138 out of 47,339 students cleared the exam, and 22,092 students achieved top grades.Statewide, the pass percentage stood at over 96 per cent in Class 5 and above 93 per cent in Class 8, with girls outperforming boys once again.Officials attribute the shift in rankings to improved academic performance in rural and smaller districts, where focused interventions and monitoring have begun to show results. In several cases, govt schools have also performed better than private institutions.District project coordinator Sanjay Mishra said the results reflect both progress and areas that need attention. "The overall pass percentage in Indore is encouraging, especially with a high number of students securing top grades. At the same time, the rankings show that other districts have improved rapidly, which calls for deeper academic focus at the school level," he said.He added that the examination process was fully technology-driven this year, ensuring transparency and timely result declaration. The emerging trend suggests that while Indore continues to maintain high pass rates, the competitive edge is gradually shifting towards districts that have strengthened their foundational learning systems.BOXIndore division among top performersIndore: Indore division emerged among the top-performing regions in the state. In Class 8, Indore division emerged as top-performing division in the state, marking a significant achievement for the region. Indore secured third position in Class 5 results, behind Shahdol and Narmadapuram divisions.
