Indore: Police are moving to the Electronic Detailed Accident Report (E-DAR) portal — a ministry of road transport and highways initiative that digitises road crash documentation and enables data capture from accident sites in real time.
The system replaces paper-based reporting processes. Officers log incidents directly from the field, uploading photographs and videos that sync with a centralised national database. Authorities say this will help identify accident-prone zones, analyse crash patterns, and implement road safety planning with greater accuracy. Officials also expect the system to reduce reporting errors and streamline investigations.
To roll out the portal, Zone-2 personnel underwent training led by Additional DCP Amarendra Singh and district coordination officer Amit Mure. Officers were walked through incident logging, attachment of visual evidence, and navigation of the system — ensuring evidence is preserved at the source rather than reconstructed later.
If implemented effectively, officials believe E-DAR could contribute to reducing road accident rates in the city.
