MIC approves development projects worth over Rs 1.5k crore

Indore: Mayor-in-council of Indore Municipal Corporation's (IMC) on Friday approved a series of development projects worth over Rs 1500 crore, including around Rs 800 crore under AMRUT 2.0 scheme.The MIC discussed 55-point agenda presented before it. As decided, a budget of Rs 500 crore was approved by the MIC for improving drainage system in 29 villages and other areas of the city, as per chief minister's announcement. Additionally, Rs 14 crore were sanctioned for repairing damaged roads across the city. Under the AMRUT 2.0 Scheme, tenders worth Rs 800 crore were also approved in the meeting for proposed projects.As an initiative, play areas and other recreational facilities will be developed on rooftops of multi-level parking structures, which is expected to earn IMC additional income. A geographical information system (GIS) survey will be conducted to identify potential revenue-generating areas. The MIC also approved the proposal for digitalisation of the workshop department, while a new software portal will be developed for citizen services.Hawker zones and sports activities will be developed under bridges and flyovers at strategic locations such as Tantya Mama Bhil (Bhanwarkua) square, Sewalal Maharaj Setu (Footi Kothi) square, Khajrana square, and beneath Kesarbagh flyover. The MIC also approved a proposal to formulate bylaws to remove abandoned and dilapidated vehicles from roads to improve cleanliness, while a task force will be formed to clean sewer lines and chambers in all wards.After discussions on the agendas, the MIC approved beneficiaries for multi-storied housing units under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Approval was also given for the naming of various squares and gardens in the city. The Sanjeevani Clinic will now be operated by a social organisation through a memorandum of understanding (MoU), as decided in the MIC.
