Based on the note, a case has been registered against his wife Harsha Sharma, mother-in-law Sita Sharma, and sisters-in-law Minakshi and Varsha Sharma under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) at Banganga police station.

Additional DCP (Zone 3) Ram Sanehi Mishra said the suicide occurred on January 20, and an investigation, including statements from family members, indicated that Padiyar was allegedly harassed by his in-laws. The case is under further probe, with additional evidence being collected.

Police also noted that there was prior discord between the families, and a domestic violence and dowry case had been registered against Padiyar and his family in Rajasthan. Details of that case have been sought as part of the investigation.

In his suicide note, Padiyar claimed he was being troubled and alleged that authorities were taking one-sided action in favor of his wife. He also appealed to the Indian government to acknowledge his concerns.
