Indian youth key to tackling global challenges, says LS Speaker Om Birla
Indore: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Friday said Indian youth are at the forefront of addressing global challenges in an increasingly interconnected world, asserting that the present era marks a transformative phase in India's growth story.Addressing the eighth convocation ceremony of Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya in Indore, Birla said students equipped with analytical thinking, innovation and research capabilities are poised to guide India in new directions.

"India's greatest strength lies in its youth. Their confidence, fresh perspectives and innovative spirit are powerful forces driving national progress," he said, urging graduating students to focus on acquiring knowledge, practical skills, technological expertise and an innovation-driven mindset.Calling upon students to commit themselves to nation building, Birla said the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat' can be realised through determination, ambition and a spirit of social responsibility.He noted that during his visits abroad, several countries expressed high expectations of India, particularly because of its young demographic profile. "While many nations are witnessing a decline in youth population, India's demographic dividend presents immense opportunity," he said, adding that Indian startups, innovation and research initiatives are already contributing solutions to both national and global challenges.
Referring to Indore and Madhya Pradesh, he said the region historically contributed meaningfully to nation building. "Despite centuries of foreign rule, India's cultural and civilisational values remained strong. The spirit of this land reflects that enduring strength," he said.He expressed hope that students would use the knowledge gained during their academic journey to contribute to the country's development while remaining rooted in values and ethical principles.Indore MP Shankar Lalwani and Madhya Pradesh cabinet minister Tulsiram Silawat were also present at the ceremony.
