In-demand heritage train back on tracks

Indore: The much in demand Patalpani-Kalakund Heritage Train is all set to return on track from August 26 to offer a mesmerizing journey between two tourist spots of Indore’s Mhow tehsil.According to senior Ratlam railway division officials, the chair-car train, which is a big hit among the nature-lovers to travel between both the tourist spots of Indore’s Mhow tehsil especially during monsoon, will be operated on weekends only – every Saturday and Sunday by adding a total five coaches with it. While fare to travel in two AC coaches – C1 and C2 has been fixed as Rs 265, it will cost Rs 20 per ticket to travel in the non-AC coaches D1, D2 and D3.The train number 52965 Patalpani-Kalakund Heritage Train will leave from Patalpani station at 11.05am to reach Kalakund station at 13.25pm and in return, the train number 52966 Kalakund-Patalpani Heritage Train will leave from Kalakund station at 3.34pm and will reach at Patalpani station at 4.30pm.Before returning to the meter-gauge track, 52965/52966 Dr Ambedkar Nagar – Kalakund – Dr Ambedkar Nagar Heritage train had its last run in January this year. The Heritage train used to pass through hilly areas and during the monsoon, the entire scenery mesmerizes the passengers. Following the demands, the railway decided to keep meter gauge track between Patalpani and Kalakund station intact to operate Heritage train on this stretch.Ever since its launch in December 2018, the Heritage train, which offers a ride along the scenic Vindhyas passes, received overwhelming response.
