Indore: The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) called on educational institutions to transform into zero waste premises, placing students at the forefront of the city's cleanliness mission. The move is aimed at boosting public participation for the upcoming Swachh Survekshan 2026,During an interactive session at a private school, the corporation commissioner Kshitij Singhal emphasised that a truly clean city is only possible when the younger generation adopts hygiene as a daily habit. To formalize this commitment, students were administered a cleanliness oath, pledging to inspire their families and peers."Garima Vidya Vihar School stands as a pioneer in this movement by actively working toward a zero waste status. The institution has appointed swachhta ambassadors in every classroom to create awareness" Singhal said. He also inspected the school's 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle) centre and robotic lab, praising the students' creative approach to environmental conservation.IMC officials, including additional commissioner Prakhar Singh, said school-led innovations served as vital role models for the rest of the city. With over 5 lakhs students enrolled in thousands of schools in Indore, IMC urged educational institutions to replicate the model to ensure the city's future leaders are rooted in sustainable living.
